Event List Feb/March

Some exciting things are happening in Cork in March - so I thought it is time to list some of them. Let me know if I have missed anything and I will add it.


13th February

Again, in L'Atitude, as part of the series 'Bringing the Wine Geese Home', Jane Boyce, wine writer, will present a tasting of wines in association with James Nicholson Wine. Email info@latitude51.ie or call 021/2390219

In case you are sick and tired of the Valentines' smoochy goochy - Fenn's Quay is the place to be. Kate and her team are hosting an Anti-Valentine Dinner in aid of Mercy University Hospital Kids Fund. 5-course menu is set at €30 per person and people who know Kate's cooking talent will know that they are in for a treat. 14th February

Another combination of charity and great food will take place in the Farmgate Restaurant in the English Market where one of my favourite chefs, Brendan Cashman, will cook up some of his wonderful concoctions. In aid of Threshold, the price is €60 and includes food, drinks and entertainment. Call 021/4278848

21st February

Bia Sásta and River Lee Hotel are welcoming the Guinea Pig Club to the Weir Room. Although this event is already booked out, we still have a waiting list. A 5 course tasting dinner, a wine and a goodie bag are included in the price of €27.50. Become a food critic for the night by filling in a questionnaire about the food & service. 10th March

As part of The Gathering event series 'Bringing the Wine Geese Home', Jean-Charles Cazes, owner of Chateau Lynch-Bages, will present his wines. Learn all about the Lynch Family. Email colm@ballymaloe.ie

15th March

Make your own Easter Egg. Learn how to melt chocolate and using a mould to make an Easter egg that we will be filling with handmade chocolate truffles. This is an afternoon in great company and lots of chocolate - for me the perfect combination. You will be taking home an egg that you have made yourself filled with truffles that you also made yourself. Places are limited to 6 so early booking is essential. 23rd March

Bia Sásta has invited Kitty Scully (presenter of RTE show 'How to create a Garden' and co-host of 'Corrigan cooks Natural') to bring you a garden experience that will get you ready in time for your own garden. We will be demonstrating how to create a raised bed without much digging, how to plant early potatoes, how to create a compost, how to prepare the ground, what is in season, how to make paper plant pots and lots more. You will be also treated to a small feast of foraged food. The event takes place at The Cottage in Grenagh,near Blarney and is well known as headquarter of Bia Sásta. 28th March

Become a wine critic for the night. Bia Sásta and L'Atitude 51 have joined forces to bring you a selection of wines and you are the judge for the night.You will be tasting 6 wines and matching food and complete a survey on your experience. We are currently in the process of arranging the details so watch this place for updates. Email biasasta@hotmail.com to secure a place
